I have so much trouble socializing due to a mix of schizoaffective disorder and autism. It's one thing to miss ques or to be generally awkward, but it's another to not have the wherewithal to actually try. It gets worse, because I've found that I don't like most people. I don't mean that in a misanthropic way, I just mean that I personally dislike most people, and I think that's my brain's way of telling me whether someone is "worth" interacting with to me or not. It sucks, and I hate it. People can do nothing wrong, can be the kindest and most genuine people, and I'll just not want anything to do with them. It's no fault of theirs, and it's no fault of mine, that's just how it is.

All of this is to say that while I may be socially clunky, the worst part is the disinterest in people. It makes it very difficult to make friends, because I don't want to make friends with most folks. Even with folks I do like, it's hard to have the motivation to keep up with.

So yes, schizospec disorders can come with hallucinations and delusions and eccentricity, but imo one of the worst things to deal with is this lack of social motivation. I can deal with hallucinations, I know what my delusions are, and I can deal with them. Self-imposed social isolation? I don't even know where to begin with that one.
